WK ponymennen 2023 bij Steenhof Stables te Oirschot

Het Wereldkampioenschap voor enkel-, twee-, en vierspan pony’s wordt in 2023 gehouden in Oirschot. Dit maakte de FEI vandaag bekend. De organisatie is in handen van de Stichting Span, die het WK organiseert op de terreinen van Steenhof Stables in Oirschot.

“We zijn super trots en blij dat we dit WK mogen organiseren,” vertelt voorzitter en tevens eigenaar van Steenhof Stables Bert Brans. “In 2020 en 2021 hadden we al een internationale menwedstrijd voor de ponyrubrieken op het programma staan, maar dit kon helaas niet doorgaan vanwege de coronapandemie.”

Oirschot draagt de pony-mensport een warm hart toe. In 2019, 2020 en 2021 werden er de succesvolle Nederlandse kampioenschappen voor de ponymenners georganiseerd. “Wij vinden het belangrijk dat de ponymenners een mooie wedstrijd kunnen rijden. We krijgen veel waardering van deze groep en dat heeft ons doen besluiten om ons kandidaat te stellen voor het WK 2023. Het is geweldig dat het is gelukt en we kijken er erg naar uit!”

Na Breda in 2015 is het de tweede keer in de geschiedenis van het gecombineerde WK ponymennen dat het WK in eigen land wordt gehouden.

Met de komst van het WK naar Oirschot krijgen de regerend individuele Wereldkampioenen Rodinde Rutjens (tweespan) en Marijke Hammink (vierspan) én het Nederlandse team de gelegenheid hun wereldtitel op eigen bodem te verdedigen.

De datum voor het WK is van 30 augustus – 3 september 2023.
